Then the day of the Scottish Christmas, the 25th of December, finally came! I had no idea what to except - all I knew about it was what I had seen in American movies (which by the way is not like the Scottish traditions!).
When I was woken up early (at least for me) in the morning and told that "Santa has been!", my first problem arrived: what do you wear when you open presents? In Denmark you open presents late in the evening, so you're of course dresses up, but this was in the morning, and I had seen in the American movies that the children opened presents in pyjamas - I decided to "dress up", though, which ended up being a good choice!
Quick selfie to show how I decided to look like (and to show how INCREDIBLY EXCITED I were) before I went down to open presents
The children had been around and opened their presents before I got the courage to go down, so it was just me, who needed to open presents, when I finally dared to go down the stairs
The amazing dinner-table!
After the presents we had a few hours of relaxing and looking at our presents, before it was dinner-time! Or not actually dinner, 'cause it was 2-3 in the afternoon, but it was food-time, at least!
I was so busy eating so I forgot to take pictures of the actual food - all I photographed was the beautiful trifli I had for desert later in the evening - but we had a lot of food! We had a bit of duck, chicken, turkey, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes (you can never get enough potatoes) and gravy - and we had LOTS!
The table was so beautifully decked as well - we had gold cutlery and everything!

I also had a few more Christmas Skype conversations on the 25th with Isabella and my mom and Bimmer!
I am looking forward to spending the next Christmas with back home, but I thought it was so much fun to try a Scottish Christmas, and I think I'll be missing a lot of the Scottish traditions next year as well.
