Busy December

There has been so many opportunities and things to do this month, and even though I'm only halfway through it, I know I've already obtained a lot of memories, that I'll hopefully never forget.

The 5th:
The last storm, that went around and hit among a lot of countries UK and Denmark pretty hard, was earlier this year, but it didn't hit Scotland - all we had was a bit more wind than usual. But the 5th of December another storm hit, and I almost didn't want to go to school (see my worried look at the picture right before we went out of the door) because the wind was pretty scary. But after getting thrown around by the wind, we were finally in our school bus, and felt pretty safe, until the bus' sunroof/emergency exit flew clean off and it started raining in, which wasn't that nice at all. But we manage to get to school and because we had most of the storm during the night (and I had a tiny flooding under my bed and woke up with the bottom part of my bed soaked), it cleared up during the day and we got home from school without problems.

The 6th:
The 6th of December is the Finnish Independence Day, which we wanted to celebrate by cooking some Finnish food. We couldn't fint a place to cook the dinner, however, so we ended up asking the Home Ec department at the school if we could use their kitchen after school, and they were more than happy to help! So that friday, after finishing taking the 6th year group photo in the hall, we all met in the Home Ec department and ate a lot of food!

Nothing says "Finnish Independence Day" as the Finnish flag drawn on your face
Having a wonderful time in the kitchen - the teachers there were so nice, and even gave us cookies!
They all prepared the food while I ran around, drew flags on their faces and took pictures
Overall it was a really good day, even though we had a very weird incident. I was talking to Sanna, when two boys looked in to the room through the door. Later, when I was drawing a flag on Chanti's cheek, one of the guys walked in, but he walked in so casually that I didn't really think about it, but when he was gone again we noticed that the doughnuts, that Sanna and Hanna had bought for dessert, were gone!
They had just walked right into the room and stolen the doughnuts, and we notices too late, so they were gone when we went and looked for them. We asked the teachers about it, and apparently that happens quite often with food at the Home Ec department. Luckily we also had chocolate cake, so we still had some desert to give (we even had too much cake, and went around the school and gave to remaining teachers).

We also met the guy, who stole our doughnuts, at the Christmas Social last night, and he said he was very sorry and said he would bring some doughnuts for us on Tuesday, when we're there again to cook a goodbye-dinner for Chanti, so I guess it all works out again!

The 10th:

Then it was time for another amazing day! ETS had decided to invite us to see the Lion King musical for a Christmas present, so we only had to pay 10 pound instead of 35-40 pounds, which was amazing, since we had already been talking about going, as people said that it was something you HAD to see in your life.

Trying to take some pretty "before the musical"-pictures ended up being pretty hard, when you were too excited and most of all just wanted to make fun.
We ended up getting some serious pictures too, though!

The Lion King was so incredible, by the way! The story was exactly like the movie, so there was nothing new there, but the way they made the animals and just in general the staging blew us away!

The 12th:

It started as a normal day in art, just painting our final pieces and having fun, until Sanna decided to spill brown paint all over her white shirt and tie and had to wash them, which meant that they were wet and couldn't be worn anymore. That meant that she could only wear her tanktop, which is very against the school rules for uniforms, so we got a note from the teacher, who allowed Sanna to not wear a shirt.
But it still was weird to wear a tanktop in school (even though she had her blazer over), so we decided she should wear a scarf. That is however also against school rules, so we had to get another note to allow her to do that. I really like school uniforms though, even though there sometimes are problems like this!

"Sanna has spilled paint on her school shirt and has had to wash it - A. Ralph"
"Sanna has my permission to wear a scarf today - C. Anderson"
Right before we left, all dressed in christmas-colours and red lips!
The 14th:
The day of the Christmas-social! It was raining all through the day, and when Sanna arrived at me and Chanti's place, she was soaked and so not up for partying or doing anything, and Chanti didn't really want to do anything either. I really wanted to go (it was the second last social in my entire exchange!), so I finally got them convinced (promising Sanna to eat icecream the following day can convince her to do most things), and we ended up having a good night!
