It's 2014! I can now say that I came to Scotland last year, and I can say that I'm leaving Scotland this year - see, that's a bit scary.
2013 was the year of many things. It was the year, where I had to say goodbye to a lot of people. It was the year, where I travelled to a foreign country by myself and had to learn how to be very independant very quickly. It was the year, where I gained a whole lot of friends, many who will hopefully always be my friends. It was also the year, where I learned who and what really meant something to me. It was a year full of experiences, goodbyes, confusions, drama and laughter. It was the year where my dream of being an exchange student finally came to life. It was an amazing year.
As I have mentioned before, New Years Eve is in Scotland called "Hogmanay", and to celebrate this, there was a huge street party in Edinburgh. I had first thought of coming, but I actually wasn't that excited for Hogmanay and it would cost me 20 pounds, so I instead decided to have more quiet Hogmanay at home with Sanna.
We decided to order Domino's pizza, buy some Irn Bru and watch the fireworks on the telly - and that's exactly what we did, and it was so much fun!

We actually had so much fun, that before we knew it it was nearly 12! So we hurried and got some glasses to drink our Irn Bru in (we went with the most Scottish drink since we can't have champagne), jumped up on the couch (apparently it isn't a tradition in Scotland, but in Denmark you JUMP into the new year) and were ready when the year changed to jump right back down again!
Actually we were quite pleased with not going to the street party, since we first of all saved money, but it looked like there was SO many people on Princess Street, and even though the weather turned out quite nice (there had been promised a lot of rain), we were glad that we were inside and didn't have to be outside in the cold - and I think we even had a better view from the telly anyways!
And what a view! When the year changed the telly showed the fireworks in different cities - and woaw, these Scots really do love their fireworks-displays! Somehow they keep suprising me with their amazing fireworks.
During the fireworks there were played this "friendship song" or something like that, where everybody held hands and sang along - the Scots are a very weird group of people, but so nice as well, heh!
So, if you haven't gotten that yet, it was an amazing evening! It was super cozy and a bit different than the New Year's Eves I'm used to - normally we go out and fire our own firework as well - but it was really nice!
| We were very excited for the new year (or just very excited to drink our Irn Bru, idk) |

As I said, 2013 was an incredible year and it started so many amazing things, including my exchange year. I really do believe and hope that 2014 will become an just as amazing year - hopefully even more amazing.
