Entertaining and Educating English Exercises

Chance (Chloe) fighting time and dreams represented
by a clock and a dreamcatcher
This post might only be funny for people who have read Tennessee Williams' plays or are actually in my Advanced Higher English class - if not, then it's just an insight in what goes on in my English class at times
Mostly my English class is, though being relaxed and very enjoyable, very focused on analytical discussions, dissertation and deadlines (woaw, I'm on a roll with alliterations right now). But because we just finished our second and last Tennessee Williams play and needed to prepare for the upcoming timed essay about the plays we have read, we needed to revise - but not normal rereading-and-writing-notes-type of revision, no, we were going to do lots of exercises!
I started out a spit skeptical, (accurately) fearing having to act and do other embarrasing things in front of people, but it was actually lots of fun! I think more time was spent on putting on and posing in the costumes than actually acting and "revising" in them.
I was commanded by Holly to bring my camera for our revising-days, and so I did, and mostly worked as a photographer when I didn't have to mime Boss Finley or help setting up the Playmobile.

The class were parted into 2 groups and sat to do various exercises - here is the other group acting out Sweet Bird of Youth (in the picture we see a castration scene, hence the scissors)
This was me and my groups first task - make a representation (can't remember the exact word Ms Isensee used for it) for Sweet Bird of Youth and explain it to the class. You have no idea how much thought went into this!
And we can't go through our double period of English without the tradition of Tuesday Tea Mornings!
We also had to "act out" the two plays using only sounds sounds from the board - my favorite was probably "monkey scream"

The other group's representation of A Streetcar Named Desire.
"Unicorns for when she's tripping"
So adorable!
Of course there were a lot of posing in the different costumes, especially the very heavy, shoulder-padded fur coat was being tried quite a lot!

Group shot of people getting ready in their costumes! - Holly as Blanche DuBois and Chanti as the Heckler
Very in character!
We finally got everyone in costumes and the two groups were then ready to finish their last and exercise. My group (shown in the picture) was tasked with filming a "Blanche DuBois guy and love advice"-video, and we so pulled it off!
