There is now 109 days left to prom, and I'm SO excited!
My prom last year, to which I had already bought dress and shoes, got cancelled because of teacher/government-problem (long story short: the government "locket out" the teachers), which meant that barely any teachers were working for a few weeks, and the prom had to be cancelled, which sucked! Luckily the prom at my level at school wasn't a big thing, like it is when you go to high school, so it could have been worse.
It was also good in one way, 'cause it means I get to save money this year, as I can just use my dress from last year! I don't have the dress yet, it'll be send over here (luckily it's very light!) around April, so I went on google to find some pictures to show you approximately how it's going to look!
When I bought it last year, I was still brownhaired, and I have to say that it would probably look better with brown hair, as it's a very, very delicate almost-grey lavender, which doesn't go too well with red hair - but I'll make it work!It has very light sleeves and skirt, and is only tight around the breast-area, which means it's super comfortable (big plus!).
I can't wait to get it in April and try it on - the ultimate test to see how much this exchange year have changed my body - and I will of course put up some pictures when I get to try it on, or at least some picture from prom!
Another thing, I've been researching, is the hair. I think to make the dress and the hair clash the least, I'l wear my hair up. It's still unclear whether or not me and my friends are going to go to a hairdresser (Chanti's hostmum is a makeup-artist, and can at least do our makeup, and she might have hairdresser-friends) or doing or hair ourselves, but I think that my hair is going to look at least a bit like this!
I especially like the big picture with the braid and small flowers.
As said before, prom is a much bigger deal here than it is in Denmark. My previous proms have been held in a big hall in the school with very minimum decoration, but here we've chosen between two very nice hotels in Edinburgh, and ended up with the Sheraton, where we will have three-course dinner, drinks (without alcohol if you're under 18) and so on.
